Midland WR-300 AM/FM Weather/All Hazards/Civil Emergency Alert Monitor with S.A.M.E.
Stay alert to conditions that affect you with Midland's WR-300 weather/all-hazard radio. The unit offers S.A.M.E. technology (Specific Area Message Encoding), which preprograms the device to receive only those warnings that apply to your local area--you can choose state, county, and/or nearby counties. The single-speaker radio offers 30 programmable county codes, AM/FM tuning, date, time, alarm functions, and even auto switch from AM/FM to pertinent all-hazard alerts.

For tuning, the radio employs drift-free PLL (phase-lock loop) technology and an easy-to-read blue, backlit LCD. You get a convenient, 10-alert memory, and you can add, edit, and remove unwanted alerts at any time. The radio uses the supplied AC power adapter or four AA Batteries (not included).

What's in the Box
Radio, AC power adapter, and a user's manual.

Eton FR300 Emergency Radio
When an emergency strikes, will you have the vital information you need? The Etón FR300 answers that question with a resounding yes. This sturdy AM/FM radio is built to handle the elements, as well as a power outage, thanks to a hand crank that can be used to recharge the built-in battery. Thanks to the FR300's reception of NOAA weather radio, emergency information is always close at hand when you need it, making this radio a must-have for anyone who wants to be as ready as possible for unforeseen events.

Design and Controls
Weighing in at just under a pound and a half, and measuring just six and a half inches across, the FR300 is light and compact enough to take anywhere. Simple, easy-to-grasp rotating knobs on the front of the device control tuning, volume, and band selection. The tuning knob also features a fine tuning control knob superimposed on the main tuning knob for extreme tuning accuracy. An analog tuning selector is clearly marked with key frequencies, making it easy to quickly tune the stations that matter most. Two switches on the front of the device control the flashlight and power supply selection.

Tuning and Bands
As mentioned, the FR300 tunes all seven NOAA weather channels, plus the all important alert channel. In addition to AM/FM tuning, you can tune into the audio from VHF television stations -- TV1 and TV2, channels two through 13.

Connections and Power
Because the FR300 is built for those times when normal power options are not available, it provides a number of options for providing the juice it needs. An AC adapter (not included) charges the built-in Ni-MH battery pack, but again, if the power is cut it can be recharged using the attached hand crank. Power can also be supplied by three "AA" batteries, and if there is no battery at all in the device -- including the rechargeable battery -- the radio will operate with continuous operation of the hand crank.

Extras
The FR300's LED light system offers three emergency lights, plus a flashing beacon mode. There's also a siren for alerting emergency responders to your location, as well as a cell phone charger for keeping your other vital communications tool topped off with power. The radio includes cell phone adapter tips for charging select models of Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Sony-Ericsson, and LG phones. Note that not all manufacturers or makes are supported.

What's in the Box
FR300 radio, 5 cell phone charging adapters, carrying case, and owner's manual.

Grundig G4000A AM/FM Shortwave Radio
If you love to hear broadcasts from around the world, here's a tool that makes it fun and easy. The Grundig G4000A AM/FM shortwave radio has the power to scan and lock on to even the weakest shortwave signals with rock-solid precision. The radio is capable of receiving AM, FM, continuous shortwave, and even SSB (single sideband) for two-way shortwave communications. All this and more is contained in a case that's under eight inches wide and weighs a pound and a half. It's a great way to tune in to local and international news, music, and sports wherever you roam.

Design and Controls
The G4000A's integrated speaker offers full-range sound while the digital frequency readout displays accurate frequency stepping for all three bands. The bright LCD screen also displays clock and alarm info. Precise tuning is handled by up/down buttons, auto-scan, and a numeric keypad that enables direct frequency entry. You also get push-button volume control, tone control, a stereo/mono switch, and a DX/local switch for choosing between long and short range AM signals. Lastly, a built-in telescopic antenna handles FM and shortwave reception, and there's a built-in ferrite bar antenna for AM.

Tuning and Bands
In addition to a full range of FM and AM frequencies, the G4000A offers shortwave tuning from 1711 to 29999 KHz. The radio is built with high-quality tuner circuitry and a digital PLL tuner that maximizes accuracy. In addition to offering 40 random programmable memory presets, you can quickly scan them to find your favorites in a jiffy.

Connections and Power
In addition to a stereo headphone jack, the G4000A has a socket for an external shortwave antenna -- great for boosting reception when you need it. The unit can be powered with the included AC adapter, or via six "AA" batteries.

Extras
The G4000A's dual clocks allow you to track the time in two time zones, and the radio's alarm allows you to wake to a tone or a radio broadcast. A sleep timer will shut the radio off after a set interval, and a protective, wrap-around soft case protects the G4000A when you take it along on a jaunt.

What's in the Box
G4000A radio, AC adapter, stereo ear plugs, wind-up antenna, vinyl carry case, user's manual, operating instructions, and warranty card.
